Update

It looks like we'll be adding 2 more BOYS to the family! We were able to find out genders in the middle of the craziness of discharging Craig from one hospital and moving him to the next.

In other good news, Craig underwent surgery this morning and it was successful. He's working on recovering now.

Surgery

Craig's surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning in Phoenix. We're heading down there tomorrow to get him settled in. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Curve Ball

Every once in a while, life throws something at you when you least expect it. It makes you lose your balance, maybe knocks you on your butt, but almost always makes you stop and look at your life with a new perspective.

Last Friday, Craig got into a dirt bike accident on a trail ride and broke his left arm pretty severely. He's been in the hospital since Friday and we are still waiting for swelling to go down before the surgeons can operate. With the humerus bone in so many pieces, we will have to wait until they're in there before knowing the best way to fix it... possibly shoulder joint replacement.

This curveball brought several things into perpective for me:

First, that I am still very much in love with Craig. I guess (and hope) everyone feels that way about their spouse or sweetheart, but it's easy to become complacent in the daily living of life. This was an excellent reminder to me about how much Craig's friendship, love and companionship means to me and how I need to do a better job cherishing it.

The obvious lesson is how precious life is and how very fragile. I don't mean to be dramatic, but I think it's easy to forget how little it takes to wipe us out. A couple sharp turns you weren't expecting, a barb-wired fence, simple things... and our world is upside down. Every day is a gift and I need to not forget that.

Another lesson I learn over and over again is how we as family, friends and a community need each other. I am so grateful for every friend, neighbor or family member who has showed concern, helped us or offered a prayer on our behalf.

Finally, I'm grateful to my Heavenly Father who is always watching out for Craig and I, teaching us and helping us push through. We may be knocked down right now, but I know we'll stand up stronger.
